Braeside House is a purpose built care home for older people who are registered blind or partially sighted. We opened in 1999 and are run by the charity Royal Blind.
We have highly trained and qualified staff who have been supporting and caring for visually impaired people for many years. We understand what sight loss means to people and their families.
Residents are recognised as unique individuals and care is tailored to their needs. Our focus is on their ability rather than their disability. We welcome families to take part in planning the care of their blind and visually impaired eldery relatives.
Our service is directly supervised by Registered Nurses supported by care and domestic staff over 24 hours.
A wide range of activities are organised, including:
We also tailor activities according to residents' interests and their previous lifestyle choices.
There are areas in the home that are designed for reminiscence, where residents are encouraged to share memories.
