Profile

Marilyn McCann - Matron

I have worked with Royal Blind since 1996 as the Matron of Braeside House and its predecessor Canaan Home. Prior to this I was a Ward Sister in acute medicine within Falkirk Royal Infirmary. I have over 30 years nursing experience and the variety of posts I have held have stood me in good stead in my present role. My role as Manager of the home means that I oversee the nursing care we carry out, as well as the day to day management of staff.

Morag Francis - Deputy Matron

I have worked for Royal Blind since 1992 in a variety of nursing roles culminating in the Deputy Matron's post in 2008. Over the years care of older people has evolved into a strongly person-centred approach. Resident choice is at the centre of our philosophy. The majority of my nursing experience has been with older people and I value what they have taught me over the years. I have a strong interest in education and one of my main aims is to ensure that members of staff are given every educational opportunity in order that their knowledge and understanding impacts positively on the care given.

Serena Allen - Head of Care

Since qualifying as a staff nurse (1981) I have gained a range of experience in both the NHS and in care homes, and have been part of the team at Braeside House since 2002. As Head of Care, my priority is to lead the nursing team in deliverying a consistently high standard of planned care, respecting each resident's individuality, dignity and comfort. Working closely with staff and residents on a day to day basis enables me to constantly monitor and evaluate both standards of care and the wellbeing of individuals.

Eileen Graham - Administrative Assistant

I qualified as an Enrolled Nurse in 1975 working in Dundee Royal Infirmary. I joined Royal Blind in 1987 working in the Thomas Burns Home. I then qualified as a Staff Nurse whilst working in Canaan Home and continued on to Braeside House. I joined the office team in 2004 and I am usually the first point of contact for callers and visitors. As well as contributing to the smooth running of the home/office I look after the residents' personal details and accounts.
