It is recognised that knowledgeable staff is a key factor in providing excellent standards of care. To help achieve this I am employed as the Education Coordinator. My role is varied but the main remit is staff training and facilitating external courses.
I am also involved with Glasgow Caledonian University Link Nurse network. Its aim is to form a network of nurses who specialise in Care of the Elderly.

We have implemented Best Practice Statements developed from this including Nutrition in the Frail Elderly.  I am at present part of the group who are working on the Best Practice Statement in Sensory Impairment. Other statements include Sensory impairment, oral health and activity and exercise. These can be accessed at www.nhshealthquality.org

Being part of this group has enabled me to keep the staff within Braeside House up to date and allowing them to keep pace with new developments.
