Powerful Partnerships is an independent citizen advocacy organisation whose primary purpose is to give people with learning disabilities a strong voice in decision-making. Citizen advocates empower people with learning disabilities to choose their own role in society and, wherever possible, help them to connect with their local community.
SCRC - Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care
SCRC was set up in April 2002 under the Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001 to regulate all adult, child and independent healthcare services in Scotland. They make sure that care service providers meet the Scottish Government's National Care Standards and work to improve the quality of care.
Scottish Social Services Council
The Scottish Social Services Council is responsible for raising standards in the Scottish social service workforce. Their vision is a competent, confident workforce, capable of delivering high quality services that has the confidence of the public, those who use services and their carers. They put service users and carers at the centre of everything they do.
The Scottish Independent Advocacy Alliance
The Scottish Independent Advocacy Alliance promotes, supports and defends the principles and practice of independent advocacy across Scotland. It does this by: • Providing a strong national voice for independent advocacy organisations • Supporting the growth of existing independent advocacy organisations • Promoting the development of new independent advocacy organisations • Encouraging existing advocacy organisations towards independence
V.I.Scotland is an organisation to support children with visual impairment and their parents that live in Scotland. We hold a secure and confidential database of over 1000 children living in Scotland with a visual impairment and use the database for three main purposes. 1. To have a network where children and parents can share experiences 2. To create a national picture of visual impairment in Scotland 3. To help service planners and other agencies to provide the most appropriate services.
