The walk, which will be held in West Princes Street Gardens on Saturday 29^th October, will take place in the dark in order to highlight some of the difficulties faced by those with a visual impairment. In order to keep the park safe, pathways, trees and will be colourfully lit. A magical atmosphere will be created using special music, lighting and bubble machines and there will be hidden surprises along the way.

 

Lucy said; “I want to help people. I am very lucky that I can see and it’s not fair that other people can't”

 

This year’s Glow in the Park has a Storybook Characters theme, and with only a week to go until the event Lucy has been busy preparing her fancy dress outfit. She says “I am going to dress up as Princess Poppy I think. A lady from Edinburgh writes the books. I can't wait to get my face painted and see what the surprises are. Oh, and I want to get my medal!!”

 

Lucy’s mum Kimberley said; “She just wants to help everyone. She gets very upset that there are people who aren't as lucky as her. I have always encouraged her to do whatever she can. As soon as she heard about the walk I knew that she would want me to sign her up. She is even missing her school's Halloween disco. She was a bit upset initially but was determined to carry on!”

 

As an enthusiastic fundraiser, Lucy’s advice is; “Tell everyone what you are doing! If somebody says that they will sponsor you later you need to keep reminding them because people forget”
