Our celebrity Eggstravaganza auction came to a close this weekend with the signed creation from Johnny Depp selling for an awesome £3900.

The film star’s donation formed part of a unique collection of Faberge-style eggs, each carefully-crafted and signed by some of the nation’s favourite celebrities including X-Factor’s Joe McElderry, Paolo Nutini and RangersFC. Auctioned via eBay, the full collection has raised thousands the Royal Blind School Appeal.

Inspired by the actor’s much loved alter ego, Captain Jack Sparrow, Depp’s egg contained a signed bandana, worn during the filming of the latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie. All week, the egg has been interesting bidders from all over the world, and in the space of twenty-four hours, managed to rocket in price by an astonishing £1000. The sought after piece was won by American fan.

Commenting on the fundraiser, Helen Forrest from Royal Blind said: “We are delighted with the amount raised from the auction and the money will provide a great boost to the Royal Blind School Appeal. Our thanks go to everyone who has given their time and effort to make this campaign a great success.”

The Royal Blind School Appeal aims to raise £6m over 3-4 years to build a new residential centre for the pupils – a new home from home. Further information available at schoolappeal.royalblind.org/
