Glow in the Park 2011

GlowintheparkGlow in the park is our annual children's event that launches Light Relief Week. It is a magical sponsored walk for children to take part in, whilst fundraising for Royal Blind, a Scottish charity for the blind.

Around 6pm on the Saturday, before the clocks go back West Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh is transformed into a beautifully lit park, with bubble machines and fun activities for the children around each corner. This truly is a fantastic event, and a great way to help and support the blind.

glowinparkentranceOn arrival in the Ross Bandstand, children are met with fun entertainment including free face painting with glow in the dark paint and have the opportunity to take part in a musical warm up, hosted by our mascot.

Each year we have a different theme ranging from Glow, clocks and the latest this year Children storybook characters. Although the theme may change, the reason behind the sponsored walk remains as worthy as ever, to help and support the blind children and adults throughout the UK.

There is a small entrance donation to take part to ensure event costs are covered so to allow all sponsorship money raised can go directly to the charity. Children 3 and under are Free, Children up to 16 are £6 and each accompanying adult £2. There are limited numbers and therefore all children must be registered to take part before the event day.

Glow in the Park this year is held on Saturday 29th October 2011, event starts at 6pm and the walk can take from half hour to an hour, dependant on your speed, the circuit is just once around the park. Event finishes at 8.30pm.

glowintheparkwarmupThis is a family friendly event and a shorter circuit has been created for those who require wheelchair access or have prams/pushchairs.
