Jamie selected for Scottish Special Needs Judo Squad

Jamies won a gold medal in the East of Scotland Special Needs Judo Championships

Jamie Fitchie has won a gold medal in the 80-85kg category in the East of Scotland Special Needs Judo Championships held at the National Judo Centre, Ratho on Saturday 26 April 2008.

As a result he has now been selected for the Scottish Special Needs Judo Squad.

Judo training is a great way to exercise and gives a good cardiovascular workout that improves stamina, general health and overall fitness.

Confidence and self-esteem are enhanced as a player progresses through the ranks and the very nature of the grading system ensures that the next goal is always realistic and achievable with effort.  The whole ethos of Judo is based around the principles of fair play, respect for one’s self and others, self-discipline and friendship and children with special needs can benefit greatly from the sport.
