The Royal Blind School Appeal
- a new swimming pool;
- improvements to site layout; and
- a new residential centre – a new home from home.
The centre will be based at Craigmillar Park where The Royal Blind School has a long and distinguished history of meeting the needs of children and young people who are blind, visually impaired and who have multiple disabilities. The development will create an exceptional and innovative centre that will combine form and function to help light up lives for our pupils.
The total cost of the new developments is £15 million and we need to raise a further £6 million, from our fundraising effforts.
BACKGROUND
The Royal Blind School is known as a national centre of excellence and for many years we have been a leading light in progressively serving the changing needs of visually impaired children. We aim to give our children a range of opportunities and experiences which will enable them to become successful learners responsible citizens, confident individuals and effective contributors to society.
THE PLAN
We are putting in place a visionary plan to construct a bright new residential centre. This will mean that we can continue to best meet the needs of our children, with residential accommodation completely separate from the school. To do this we need to raise as much funding as possible so that work can commence in July 2010.
WE NEED YOUR HELP
Every child is different and has different needs. At The Royal Blind School each pupil receives an Individualised Educational Programme (IEP), linked with a Care Plan if they are residential. In addition our pupils are prepared for independent living by receiving mobility instruction and practice in food preparation, personal care, and organisational skills.
- Every donation counts
The total cost of the development is £15m. Every donation, however big or small will help us to achieve this target. - A brighter future
Every donation will go towards the building of a new residential centre – an exceptional and innovative building that will help to light up lives for our pupils. - A leading light
Every donation will mean thatRoyal Blind continues to be a leading light in progressively serving the changing needs of blind children. Our children have a range of opportunities and experiences which enable them to become successful learners, responsible citizens, confident individuals and effective contributors to society.
You can lighten up the lives of the blind and visually impaired and help bring the light and colour that you enjoy into their lives and future.
We can only build our new centre with your help.
