Vision and Aims
The vision of the Royal Blind School is to provide a safe and enriching environment, where every pupil is valued and supported to become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors to society.
Specifically, the Royal Blind School aims to:
- take very good account of the particular needs of each child and young person;
- promote positive interaction between staff and young people across the school and residences;
- ensure that the school and residences are enjoyable, safe and productive places for children and young people and staff;
- promote appropriately high expectations for children and young people and ensure that all have the relevant experiences and opportunities to become confident individuals, successful learners, effective contributors and responsible citizens;
- ensure equality of opportunity for all children and young people, irrespective of ethnicity, gender, physical capabilities, race and religion;
- >promote the emotional, physical and social health of all children and young people, and staff;
- work closely with parents, carers and families to ensure consistent support for all children and young people;
- promote positive partnership with therapists, mobility staff, nursing staff and other support agencies, including Careers Scotland, to maximise independence, support effective transition arrangements and ensure the best future options for all young people;
- further develop and share with partners best practice in the field of visual impairment and establish the school as a national and international centre of excellence.
