Outreach
At the Royal Blind School (RBS), we deliver a high quality service which
meets the individual pupil’s and resident’s needs. These are identified
through initial and ongoing assessment and consultation with the young people and their parents.
Following admission to the school a comprehensive baseline assessment is
made of new pupils’ developmental and educational needs within their first
year.
In partnership with local authorities the school provides an outreach service
to visually impaired pupils within their local education setting. School staff
are available to undertake functional assessments for non-RBS pupils. These
assessments can take place in the young person’s home area or he/she
may be invited to come to the RBS for a day or two. Assessment can be
provided across the full range of the curriculum.
