Craigmillar Park

At Craigmillar Park Campus we provide primary and secondary education including residential accommodation.

Primary
Following current Scottish curricular guidelines, all pupils experience the full range of curricular and social programmes appropriate to their age and stage. Each pupil has an Individualised

Educational Programme (IEP), linked with a Care Plan if they are residential. In addition our pupils will be prepared for independent living by receiving mobility instruction and practice in food preparation, personal care, and organizational skills.

Secondary
All pupils continue to be offered a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum up to S3.
Our expertise and resources ensure pupils are presented with all the options within the
National Qualifications, from Access to Higher in a wide range of subjects. Offering all these levels means that there is scope for pupils to demonstrate their abilities at whatever level suits
them best. Throughout their secondary education, pupils are helped to develop skills for independent living, with co-ordinated approaches to promoting pupils’ personal, social and emotional well-being. The secondary department offers large, attractive and excellently resourced classrooms. There is internet access from all classrooms with modern computer and assistive technology available for pupil use. We have a gymnasium, soft play room, multi-gym and swimming pool. Pupils who require more support to access the curriculum will have a classroom as a base. Here they are taught language and communication, maths, personal and social education, religious and moral education, as well as environmental and social subjects. Other areas of the curriculum are taught by specialist subject teachers.

Residential Accommodation
There are five residential areas for pupils attending the school at Craigmillar Park Campus.
Three are accommodated in the main school building and the other two are situated within the school grounds. The aim of the residential provision is to deliver a high quality service which meets the individual person’s needs identified through assessment and consultation with the young person and their parents. We provide a stable environment in which individual programmes of care can be delivered, including support for families where appropriate. At all times, high priority is given to maintaining the privacy and dignity of pupils. Opportunities are available for pupils to develop a range of social and living skills by participating in clubs and a range of other leisure activities.
