At all times, high priority is given to maintaining the privacy and dignity of pupils. We offer a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum that enables all pupils to fulfil their potential intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, physically and socially.
Residential Care Planning
Residential provision at the Royal Blind School offers a flexible, individualised approach to meeting the care needs of our children and young people.
Residential care staff incorporate the Care Commission's Care Standards in their daily working practice. A Pupil Care and Support Plan (PCSP) and an Individualised Education Plan (IEP) are developed for each young person in partnership with the young person, parents/carers and other key colleagues. Through collaborative practice we have a unique opportunity to provide a 24 hour curriculum by working in association with education, health and other relevant colleagues.
The Depute Care, Lead Seniors and Senior residential care staff either hold or are working towards gaining a degree in Social Work or equivalent. Residential care staff are qualified in or are working towards an HNC (Higher National Certificate) in Social Care plus SVQ (Scottish Vocational Qualification in Caring for children and young people) level 3 or equivalent.
Regulation of care services
Care provision at the Royal Blind School is registered with the Care Commission and is regularly inspected by the Care Commission and HMle to ensure that the current excellent standards of care are maintained and developed. Care Commission inspection reports are available on the Care Commission's website, www.carecommission.com. HMIeinspection reports are available on www.hmie.gov.uk.
