Muliti-disciplinary Support
Also in this section:
A multi-disciplinary team of therapists and medical staff provide a range of support to our pupils and residents.
Therapies
Therapists are an integral part of our teaching team; we provide the following therapies to all our pupils and residents.
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Occupational therapy enables young people to achieve health, well being and satisfaction through participation in occupation, in terms of everyday activities and curricular access.
PHYSIOTHERAPY
Physiotherapists identify and maximise movement potential through health promotion, preventive healthcare, treatment and rehabilitation.
SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY
Speech and Language therapists assess and treat speech, language and communication difficulties in young people to enable them to communicate to the best of their ability.
MUSIC TEACHING AND THERAPY
Music can convey feelings without the use of words. Music is essentially a social activity involving communication, listening and sharing. Music can be a great motivator and can be used to promote developmental work.
Medical Support
GP support is available to the school, and where appropriate, pupils are registered with local GP Practices. Ophthalmology support is also available.
Pupils also have access to the services of the school dental services, chiropody and in some cases specialist services such as dietetics and counselling support. Nursing support is provided on a 24 hour basis.
