Canaan Lane Campus

School Provision
The Canaan Lane Campus of the Royal Blind School is a
purpose built educational and residential facility for children
and young adults with Multiple Disabilities in addition to their
Visual Impairments – MDVI.

The facilities include:

  • a purpose built school for MDVI up to 19 years of age
  • 54 places for MDVI young people
  • residential facilities in 6 purpose built houses
  • a purpose built nursery for visually impaired children 3 - 5 years of age with places for 12 children with a visual impairment
  • an early years play group based at the Barrie nursery
  • two hydrotherapy pools
  • an assessment suite with a video studio and editing facility
  • acces to our neighbours - St Peter’s Primary school

  • a comprehensive baseline assessment for all new pupils with their first year following admission to the school
  • the opportunity to be part of the Leavers’ programme based upon a purpose built Leavers’ Unit with an adapted Leavers’ curriculum to facilitate transition to adult placements.
