Transcription Department
Transcription DepartmentThe finished documents can be produced as single-sided or double-sided Braille in Grade 1 or 2 and are available in a range of sizes and different bindings such as treasury tagged, wire bound, wire stitched or thread sewn.

The Scottish Braille Press has a variety of quality embossers and finishing equipment which allows us to produce your documents in quantities ranging from a single copy to tens of thousands of copies.

We can also provide a tactile diagram service with the diagrams bound into the Braille documents if required.

On receipt of your document it is first edited by one our experienced editors who prepares the copy for our transcribers. Our transcribers then convert the document to Braille. The Braille is then checked by one of our proofing teams. Each team consists of a visually impaired Braille reader and a sighted reader. Only when the text is proof read and approved is the finished document embossed and bound and delivered according to your instructions.
