Large Print
There are organisations who, rather than supply their visually impaired customers with properly produced Large Print documents, produce Enlarged Print by photocopying their standard printed documents onto larger sizes of paper. This format is unsuitable for many visually impaired people and often cannot be satisfactorily read by them due to the size, layout and variation in type font and size.
At the Scottish Braille Press we scan your original documents and re-design them, in accordance with our RNIB approved standards, into a format that is acceptable to the visually impaired reader. Each document is then proof read and approved before it is printed and bound. As many of our staff are themselves visually impaired, the Scottish Braille Press is in a position where it understands the needs of the visually impaired reader. The input of our visually impaired staff is of great benefit in determining the ideal layout and style of your Large Print documents.
We recommend a san serif font such as Arial in a minimum font size of 16pt. However, we are happy to discuss your requirements and frequently work with larger font sizes. We produce our Large Print in black text on white paper as a standard. We can also provide our standard plain covers if you wish or we can provide printed covers to your specification or work from covers supplied.
We can produce your documents in quantities ranging from single copies up to several thousand copies.
