£2.5 million residential refurbishment nearing completion

Residential Homes

Work is nearing completion on the refurbishment of our residential homes based at the Canaan Lane campus of The Royal Blind School.

This exciting £2.5m project will provide residential accommodation for up to 30 young people who are multiply disabled and visually impaired, on a 52 week basis. Due for final completion this year, the six fully adapted homes will provide a combination of respite and residential provision.

The customised design of the residential homes is the product of a high degree of collaboration amongst parents, staff, associated agencies and the architects. The latest equipment and furniture have been installed during the refurbishment to provide a homely, safe and stimulating environment for our children.

Lesley Stocks, head of services at the residential homes said: 'We have to meet the education, care and health needs of a range of children and young people. We attempt to prepare young people as far as possible for independent living and to ensure that they feel at home within the residences. The purpose built facilities are quite stunning.'
