International links continue to strengthen

Over the past couple of years, international links at The Royal Blind School have continued to strengthen.
On a local level, pupils from Canaan Lane welcomed 'Sironka and Friends' to their school for an afternoon of music and dance with the troupe of Masai Warriors proving very popular with the students. Students also took part in an 'Africa Day', learning about various types of African environments.
On an international level the school took part in planned visits for a project that challenges perceptions of visual impairment, in conjunction with schools from Sweden, Germany, North and South Ireland and Lithuania.
The school is also played a major role in leading a dissemination and training conference in Italy for teachers and other specialised staff of children with multiple disabilities and visual impairment. The seminar - Beyond the Classroom - was the conclusion of the ImPAct MDVI project which addressed issues surrounding the integration of the diverse elements into meaningful educational process for pupils with multiple disabilities and visual impairment.
Staff at The Royal Blind School have also attended specialist international conferences in Sweden, Portugal and Czech Republic whilst also represented at the international ICEVI (International Council for the education of people with Visual Impairment) conference in Malaysia last July.
The school continues to hold a high reputation as a centre of excellence on the international stage.
