Richard Hellewell, BA Econ, FCA, Chief Executive

Richard HellewellRichard took up office in 2007, bringing a wealth of experience to the position gained from many years in senior management in the Scottish voluntary sector and the field of disability.

He was with Capability Scotland for twelve years as their Director of Finance, during which time he was involved in establishing the Scottish Charity Finance Director’s Group.  That was followed closely with the role of Head of Regulation and Compliance with the new Scottish Charity regulator, OSCR, setting up and trialling their monitoring arrangements.  Other past involvements include chairmanship of an Edinburgh Housing Association and two finance posts in the voluntary housing sector.

Richard serves on the executive boards of SCOVI (President from November 2012), Veterans Scotland and SCIS and on the Scottish Strategy Board of the ICAEW.  He is an expert in charity law, governance and finance and has experience in applying successfully for government funds as well as voluntary fundraising.  He is leading Royal Blind, and Scottish War Blinded through an exciting period of development.
