The Scottish Braille Press is a leading UK provider of high-quality alternative formats. We offer a transcription service to provide accessible materials for vision impaired people in braille, large print and audio for all types of business, regardless of size.

We have a wide range of clients, from individuals to banks, the public sector and exam boards. 

Subsidised braille books 

We can transcribe any written document and produce a variety of subsidised books in braille with a wide range of titles to suit adults and children. We have transcribed a wide range of authors into braille, including JK Rowling and Ian Rankin. Browse our shop.

Founded in 1891, we have a strong history and heritage in the production of alternative formats and the provision of employment for vision impaired people. Find out more about our history.

We are part of the registered charity Royal Blind, which is the largest vision impairment organisation in Scotland. Royal Blind provides life-changing opportunities for children and adults across Scotland and the rest of the UK.
