Deputy Manager of the Scottish Braille Press, Sandra Wright, gained an International Certificate in Risk Management - after passing the year-long professional course with distinction.

This certificate offers assurance that the Scottish Braille Press is investing in relevant training for staff to meet the strict supplier and regulatory requirements of customers, particularly those in the financial sector.

It's also a fantastic achievement for Sandra, who after a hard year of burning the midnight oil is focussed on putting her knowledge to use:

"The next step is to consolidate what I have learned and introduce controls and reviews to ensure we meet our customer requirements with regard to risk management. As to further training - I am still recovering from my recent efforts!"

Sandra was "absolutely delighted" to achieve a distinction which means she gained at least 80% in two exams at the end of a demanding year of self-directed study. The course - run by the Institute of Risk Management - was taken by globally based students from a variety of industries, many of whom had risk management roles.

Sandra is applying her hard-earned knowledge by carrying out a risk assessment and working in close collaboration with customers from the banking sector to ensure process controls align with their financial industry standards.

This involves developing a risk aware culture through Business Process Review workshops, and training all staff to raise awareness and understanding of the organisation's risk management approach.
