Messing about on the canal

With summer (supposedly) upon us, the Braeside House residents have been making the most of the scant Edinburgh sunshine on regular cruises along the Union canal.

The popular daytrips, run by the Seagull Trust, involve a gentle barge cruise from the Edinburgh Canal centre in Ratho.

The Seagull Trust are well known faces at Braeside House. Their talented musicians regularly perform concerts for the residents inside the home as well as doing a fantastic job entertaining on the boat trips.

The Braeside cruises take place roughly every month from late spring to September – although last year a December ‘Santa’ cruise was added to the programme for the first time and proved immensely popular!

In June Charlotte Inglis, May Peters and Vera Spark were amongst the day trippers, accompanied by staff members Elaine Keay and Dionne Nolan-Campbell. It was one of May’s first trips out as a new resident at Braeside, and she told the team that she really enjoyed herself.

As the photos show, the sun shone for them and everyone had a brilliant day!
