Royal Blind has signed talented new head of ICT with more than two decades' experience – and a background as a professional footballer

Kevin Burns worked for NHS Tayside for 25 years before becoming ICT Manager for the Royal Blind Group this month.

As well as being a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator with a degree in mathematics, Kevin is also a keen footballer, having played for Arbroath FC in the 1990s.

Kevin hung up his boots in 1998 – but not before he saw his team promoted to the first division.

Now, after gaining a wealth of experience in system administration, Kevin will now manage the ICT department for Royal Blind – bringing his knowledge of managing a diverse and wide range of services to the charity.

He said: “I have recently joined the Royal Blind Group after 25 years at NHS Tayside. I’m hoping to bring my experience of working with a wide range of services to my new role within the ICT Department.

“I manage a small team of excellent technicians based at Barrie House, West Savile Road who ensure that IT services across the Group are working reliably and efficiently.

“My role includes IT contract and licence management as well as the design and procurement of new systems and services. I will work closely with the managers and staff to provide guidance on the IT systems they use and help to achieve an exciting computer experience for everyone.”

Welcome aboard Kevin! We at Royal Blind are very much looking forward to working with you.
