Prestwick and Troon Branch of the Armed Forces Veterans Association donate funds in support of Scottish War Blinded

Representatives of the Prestwick and Troon Branch of the Armed Forces Veterans Association visited the Linburn Centre to present a cheque for £381.00 to Scottish War Blinded on Friday 18 September 2015.

The association raises funds of over £1500.00 on an annual basis, through raffles and supermarket collections, supporting numerous veterans charities including the Ghurkha Welfare Trust, Erskine and Gardening Leave.

The decision was made to donate funds to Scottish War Blinded after visiting the charity’s information stall at Ayr Armed Forces Day in June and learning about the services provided to visually impaired veterans across Scotland.

Mary Devlin of Prestwick and Troon Branch of the Armed Forces Veterans Association kindly donated a second cheque on the day to Scottish War Blinded.

Mrs Devlin said:

“It’s been an amazing experience visiting the Linburn Centre and seeing what goes on and talking to the members. I have a friend who has served in the Armed Forces and has developed the condition Macular Degeneration. It’s good to know that Scottish War Blinded are here to provide support when she needs it.”

We offer our sincere thanks to the Prestwick and Troon Branch of the Armed Forces Veterans Association for generously supporting Scottish War Blinded.
