Scottish War Blinded members visited Ardgowan Bowling Club in Greenock on Wednesday 5 August 2015 keen to build upon their tour victory at Jessfield Bowling Club in July.

Linburn Centre members Ian Graham and Jack O’Hare were joined by fellow members from the West of Scotland Jim Stevenson, Peter Ramsay and David Thomas for the match.

And so it proved as both teams failed to establish a significant lead cancelling one another out with a splendid display of accuracy and guile. Following the drinks break, Ardgowan resumed the stronger of the teams who built a lead of several shots.

As a result of an inspiring display of match play, Scottish War Blinded members fought their way back into the match drawing the teams closer together, once more, as the final end approached.

The teams gathered, despite the worsening weather, for the final end in which the winner would take all. Scottish War Blinded held their nerve with a series of fine shots to narrowly win the match 11-10.

Members, who had been treated to the finest of hospitality throughout the day, returned to the clubhouse to dry off and reflect on a wonderful match with their opponents.

Scottish War Blinded member Jack O'Hare said:

"It's been a fantastic day out and I have thoroughly enjoyed the bowling and hospitality from Ardgowan Bolwing Club."

We offer our sincere thanks to Ardgowan Bowling Club for hosting Scottish War Blinded’s Centenary Bowling Tour and look forward to a return match next year.
