Scottish War Blinded member Rev. Dr. Bill Mackie travelled to Orkney recently to preside over the wedding of Kevin and Marta Grieve.

The event proved to be a wedding with a difference as Bill and the bridal party took part in an impromptu joint ice water challenge raising £250 in support of Scottish War Blinded.

Bill said:

Scottish War Blinded member Bill Mackie“Whilst travelling to Orkney, our daughter Faith in Aberdeen took the Ice Bucket Challenge and nominated myself, Heather and our 2 sons. As we had a wedding that weekend, I spoke to the Bride and Groom who agreed to join in with us.

In Orkney they have a wedding followed by a BBQ the next day, so we announced at the wedding reception that we would be doing this on the Saturday and it was agreed to give the money raised to Scottish War Blinded.

So on Saturday, Heather, my wife and the newlyweds Kevin Grieve and his Ukrainian Bride Marta, plus one of Marta's Ukrainian nieces took the challenge and raised £250.

I look forward to presenting the cheque to Scottish War Blinded upon my return later this month.”

We offer our sincere thanks to all who participated in support of Scottish War Blinded.
