Scottish War Blinded members continued their blind bowling tour at Willow Bank Bowling Club on Wednesday 31 August 2016.

The wonderful ladies section of Willow Bank Bowling Club warmly greeted our members upon arrival who would provide the opposition for today’s two doubles matches.

The weather for today’s matches was set fair and the bowling green looked in pristine condition as our members took the field resplendent in red and white, confident in victory.

However, the ladies of Willow Bank had different ideas who made an impressive start in both matches as our members got used to the pace of the green and conditions.

In match A, Scottish War Blinded members Ian Graham and Jim Stevenson established a steady lead, having demonstrated considerable skill and tactical awareness.

In Match B, members Peter Stevenson and David Thomas exchanged shots with their opponents but lost a crucial six shots at the 9th end leaving much work to be done in rescuing the situation.

As both matches drew to a close our members managed to sustain their lead in match A but were, unfortunately, unable to close the gap in match B.

The scores were as follows:

Match A: Scottish War Blinded 13 Vs Willow Bank 10

Match B: Scottish War Blinded 7 Vs Willow Bank 19

Our members were treated later on to a sumptuous scotch pie and beans in the clubhouse and enjoyed some lively banter from the ladies.

Scottish War Blinded member Ian Graham said:

"Today has been a fantastic experience for everyone and we extend our thanks to Willow Bank Bowling Club for making us feel so welcome and hosting our blind bowling tour."

Our sincere thanks to everyone at Willow Bank Bowling Club for a fantastic day.
