Scottish War Blinded Represented at National Federation of the Blind in Florida

 You may remember an earlier blog reporting on Scottish War Blinded Outreach Worker John Kerr presenting a Glengarry Cap to the president of the American National Association of Blind Veterans Dwight. D. Sayer in Florida. Dwight mentioned to John that he would wear the Glengarry Cap to the next convention which he was delivering a presentation. Dwight has remained true to his word and has shared a video of his experience.

National Association of Blind Veterans President Dwight Sayer Representing Scottish War BlindedDwight provided a presentation about the National Association of Blind Veterans at the annual National Federation of the Blind which took place in Florida from 5-10 July 2015.

The National Federation of the Blind is the largest organisation in the United States which works with blind and partially sighted people with over 50,000 members. Over 3000 delegates attended what was the federation’s 75th anniversary convention in Florida.

In his presentation titled ‘Honour our Heroes’, Dwight mentioned the reasons behind wearing the Glengarry Cap as well as information about Scottish War Blinded. Watch the video

Mr Sayer said:

“It was my Honor to wear the Glengarry Regimental Hat presented to me from Scottish War Blinded at the 75th Anniversary Convention of the National Federation of the Blind. The National Association of Blind Veterans opened this convention with an Honor Our Hero’s Celebration which is where I wore the Hat.”
