Scottish War Blinded to Commemorate World War I Armistice with Exhibition at Central Library

Scottish War Blinded will commemorate the Armistice by hosting a World War I exhibition from Monday 10 to Saturday 15 November 2014 at Central Library, Edinburgh.

The exhibition, in partnership with the Edinburgh University led ‘Scotland’s War’ project, will focus on the development of chemical warfare, attitudinal changes towards disability and the rehabilitation and training provided to blinded soldiers by Scottish War Blinded following its foundation in 1915.

Scottish War Blinded ExhibitionThe Scotland’s War History Hub, based at Central Library, will support the exhibition by providing a range of seminars, research and music from the period describing life on the home and fighting fronts.

Scottish War Blinded member stories of relatives who served during the conflict will also feature at the exhibition alongside art and craftwork produced at the Linburn Centre.

Scottish War Blinded has launched a general appeal for World War I artefacts such as medals, pictures and military equipment to appear as exhibits. If you can help, please email us
