Forward Vision come third in music contest

Congratulations to Forward Vision who won third place in the UK wide 'Care Home Idols' music competition.

The young adults were recorded in December during one of their regular music-making workshops with teacher Karl MacRae.

Teacher Karl on keyboard and Amanda singing.Despite being a late entry to the competition, their unique rendition of 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' received very positive feedback, was viewed online thousands of times, and got into the top three amongst non-professional entrants.

Lead singer Amanda said she was delighted to take part:

"Being a finalist was like being in the X factor. It’s cool to sing, I like it. I enjoyed making the video and working with other people”

This was the first time Forward Vision have participated in the ‘Care Home Idol’ competition, which celebrates all forms of musical entertainment in care homes and supported accommodation. Music teacher Karl Macrae said:

“When we made this video we wanted to show what our young adults could achieve. In the music workshops we try to ensure everyone works as independently as possible to create their own sounds – and have a lot of fun in the process."

"It’s brilliant that their efforts have been so well received.”

Forward Vision will be awarded with a ‘Care Home Idols 2014’ plaque. A superb effort from all involved, and a big thank you to all those who voted for them.

The video can be watched on the Royal Blind youtube channel or Care Home Idol website: http://www.carehome.co.uk/idol/.
