Forward Vision's barbecue is a Hawaiian sizzler

The garden at Forward Vision was looking particularly colourful this month when everyone gathered in gaudy shirts and flower garlands to enjoy a Hawaiian themed summer barbecue.

The weather stayed kind – perhaps not Hawaiian temperatures but by Scottish standards it was a scorcher!

Jim from Scottish War Blinded was guest chef in charge of the Barbie – and came suitably attired for the occasion in a blue Hawaiian shirt! By all accounts he did a great job with the cooking.

During the week, all the young adults had been involved in the preparations for the big day – helping with the shopping and baking and creating the colourful decorations that adorned the garden.

17 year old Andrew from Falkirk is a new resident at Forward Vision. Andrew just moved in a few days before the barbecue, but he happily got stuck in straight away with the preparations for the event. His parents Alan and Catherine went along, and said the barbecue was a great welcome for all of them.

“The food was fabulous and the atmosphere was really lovely and welcoming” Catherine said. “Staff put so much work and effort into it.”

“It was good for us to see everybody that was there.” Alan said “It felt like a wee community.”

Thanks to everyone who helped make the barbecue such a lovely afternoon.
