Forward Vision's Tearoom a Big Success

Posted: 01/10/2014 | Adult Services

The coming of the chilly Autumn weather offers a great excuse to get stuck into afternoon tea and tasty home baking – so there were plenty of cakes and cuppas consumed at Forward Vision’s latest Cranberry Tearoom.

While the pounds may have been piling on, the good news is they were also piling up for charity - with some of the proceeds being donated to MacMillan Cancer Care.

Staff, young adults from Forward Vision and pupils from the school were all involved in the event - helping shop for ingredients, baking and serving customers on the day.

Based at one of the houses, the tearoom started life as an occasional event but it’s been such a success that there are plans to run them twice a month in the run up to Christmas.

While all the cakes were delicious, a special mention goes to Angie Fitzharris our volunteer who made the Fairy Cakes, Lemon Drizzle Cake and the Fudge Tray bake, to Marilyn Warrington for her gorgeous tablet, and to Angela Corner for her amazing Carrot Cake.

Big thanks also to the young adults, Danielle, Alex and Christopher, who welcomed visitors beautifully, to Sam for looking after the money and to Julie for being the hostess with the mostest on the day (apron and all).

Over £200 was made, half of which will go towards the next event, and the other half donated to McMiIllan Cancer Care. Well done to all involved!
