Royal Blind welcomes the holiday season every year with hand-designed Christmas cards and wrapping paper, as well as Brailled gift tags in our selection of festive merchandise! The gift tags are especially unique in that they feature a special “Season’s Greetings” message printed in Braille on the inside panel.

Santa Visits Kidscene!

Santa Visits Kidscene!

The Kidscene Christmas Party took place on Thursday afternoon and was filled with festive fun! Activities included a game of Pass the Parcel, a dance competition, and a candy-cane hunt! The club followed the distant sound of Santa’s bells all over the Canaan Lane campus while collecting candy cane surprises along the way. They eventually discovered Father Christmas sitting next to a fat sack of presents in an elaborately decorated Grotto! Luckily all of the Kidscene members have been incredibly good this year, so each child received a special present from Santa.

Creativity at Christmas

Creativity at Christmas

This year over 2000 Edinburgh primary school pupils from 17 schools pulled out their pens and glitter to take part in a competition to design a Christmas card for MP Ian Murray. Although none of the Royal Blind School pupils won the overall contest, Ian took time out of his busy schedule to choose his favourite Royal Blind School design and present its artist, Mason Haddow, with a prize.

Ian Murray MP has always been a keen supporter of the school and the children who attend.

Rabbie's Girls tickets are Selling Fast!

Now in its third year, ‘Rabbie’s Girls’ promises to be the perfect evening to vanquish those January blues!

Our annual Burns evening is just for the ladies and will be held in the dazzling main hall of the George Hotel. Upon arrival, guests will enjoy music from our own Scottish piper during a chic champagne reception with oysters kindly sponsored by Loch Fyne.

Royal Blind School Honoured with Independent School Award

In November, the Royal Blind School received the award for “Special Needs Initiative of the Year” as part of the 2012 Independent School Awards. Margaret Habgood and Sandy Lunan collected the award on behalf of the Royal Blind School. The Independent School Awards™ (ISAs) celebrate excellence in the strategic and financial management of independent schools in the UK. They are organised by the team behind Funding for Independent Schools magazine.
