Royal Blind School Pupils Celebrate Senses At Queen's Hall

Pupils at the Royal Blind School will perform for the first time at the Queen’s Hall this week.

‘Come to Your Senses,’ the performance at the Queen’s Hall on 20 June, is a celebration of the pupils’ achievements through their senses, movement and music. The pupils performing are blind or visually impaired, and some have additional disabilities and learning support needs.

Royal Blind School Building Up For Sale

An iconic building that has served as a special school in Edinburgh for 178 years has been put on the market for sale today.

The Royal Blind School’s Craigmillar Park Campus is being sold as part of a move to merge two campuses into one. By Autumn 2014 all pupils at the Royal Blind School will be relocating to the campus at Canaan Lane in Morningside, which is being refurbished to accommodate the changes over the coming year.

S.D.S Junior Athletics Championship Success!

On Wednesday 5 June, 9 pupils made their way to Grangemouth Stadium to represent the Royal Blind School at the S.D.S Open Junior Athletics Champioships, and what a day it turned out to be, with a combined haul of 9 gold and 5 silver medals.

A massive congratulations to everyone who took part.

New Head Teacher Appointed At Royal Blind School

A new Head Teacher has been appointed at one of Scotland’s most renowned special schools.

Elaine Brackenridge will take on the position of Head Teacher at the Royal Blind School at the start of the Autumn term. She will lead the school during a period of re-development as the Royal Blind School will be developing a new resource centre, growing its outreach services, and in Autumn 2014 will be merging its two campuses into one.
