Athlete Jack jumps to sporting glory

The Deeside Piper today reports that a Deeside youngster who attends the Royal Blind School has lived up to his name and brought back two gold and one silver medal from a recent athletics competition. Jack Jump, 18, from Banchory, won a silver for long jump at the Scottish Disability Sport Open Junior Athletics Championships at Grangemouth. He also won two gold medals for the 100-metre and 60-metre track events.

Pow Wow Kick Starts a Colourful Day of Music, Dance and Crafts

Pupils at the Canaan Lane campus recently explored the theme of Native American myths legend and culture as they enjoyed their biennial Carnival Day on Tuesday 28th June. The day fused art, music and dance to provide the pupils with a creative break to their usual routine.

The day began with a traditional Pow Wow where the whole school joined together to construct a carefully crafted Totem Pole.

Pupils get the chance to bring Friends and Family to School

Royal Blind’s Friends and Family Day was held recently at the Craigmillar Park Campus and gave pupils a chance to show friends and family what daily life at the school is like.

The day, which is held every year, aims to encourage visitors to tour the school and visit classes and activities, and to find out a little more about The Royal Blind School. Activities on offer included amongst many a Ready Steady Cook competition, library reading and an arts and crafts class.
