But in 1971 when Scottish Braille Press worker, Jim McCafferty, was asked to trial a new gadget to help blind people navigate using sound, his friends found the device so space-age they nicknamed him ‘Joe 90’.

This week staff and pupils joined together at the Canaan Lane Campus of The Royal Blind School to celebrate our 10th anniversary at this Campus.

The cake was really tasty, the band provided the party atmosphere and we had a fantastic time – just the right event before an Easter break.

Lucy Campbell, aged six, from Musselburgh will be taking part in Glow in the Park, a children’s sponsored walk which will raise money for Edinburgh based charity Royal Blind. Lucy has so far managed to raise over £92 for the charity and is aiming to raise at least £200.
