Pupils from The Royal Blind School are delighted with the news that Eagles tribute band, HOTEL CALIFORNIA, is supporting their school appeal. On Friday 15th ;October 2010 - for one night only – the band will perform their spectacular, critically acclaimed, show at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange. Two team places left for our Try and Score Celebrity Golf Day on 26 August

There are two team places left for our Try and Score Celebrity Golf Day on 26 August at the Dalmahoy Golf Club. Teams of 3 cost £499 and your 4th player will be a celebrity from the world of sport. Last year the event was a tremendous success and raised nearly £10k for the charity. Can we beat it this year? Can you help or perhaps let friends, colleagues etc know that this is happening?

Newton Stewart teen from Royal Blind School heading for success after reaching the final of a prestigious Scottish Education Award

A NEWTON Stewart man is aiming for success after reaching the final of a prestigious Scottish education award. Derick Locke, 19, helps to run Vera’s Café at the Royal Blind School in Edinburgh – and the team is bidding to triumph against two other finalists from the mainstream education sector in the Entrepreneurial Learning Award category. The winning school will be named at The Scottish Education Awards at a ceremony in Glasgow later this month.

Libby Clegg takes first gold for Great Britain

Libby Clegg takes first gold for Great Britain

Former Royal Blind School pupil and Royal Blind Ambassador, Libby Clegg, has won Great Britain's first gold in the BT Paralympic World Cup in Manchester. Libby won the 100 metres for the visually impaired, to the delight of 5,500 spectators, among them schoolchildren who had come from as far away as Somerset. Libby has had Stargardt’s macular dystrophy since she was 9, a condition she shares with two of her three siblings.  Her two brothers, James and Stephen, also attend The Royal Blind School and both are training hard for the forthcoming 2012 Paralympics.
