Making the transition from school - information event


The move from school to adult life is a big change for anyone, but young people with additional support needs can face even greater challenges.

To prepare and inform parents and carers for their own child's post-school transition, the Royal Blind School is hosting an information event on Tuesday February 10.

Royal Blind School Cafe opens

Royal Blind School Cafe opens

Last week the Royal Blind School opened its brand new pupil run café in the refurbished Canaan Lane campus in Morningside. After head teacher Elaine Brackenridge cut the ribbon, hungry and excited members of staff and guests were met by a bright and spacious café with big windows, beautifully set tables with elegant tea china cups and flowers laid out on each one.

“Picture, if you will, children running about and playing. Now imagine sitting in a wheelchair all day with splints on your legs and a body brace needing someone to facilitate movement. That is the reality for many of our pupils. Getting into a hydrotherapy pool means freedom. Freedom from constraint, freedom from discomfort and freedom to get close to friends.”
