National Braille Week

National Braille Week aims to raise awareness of the importance of braille and other alternative formats that open up the written world to people with vision impairment.

National Braille Week is organised by the charity Royal Blind and runs in the second week of October from the 7th - 13th October.

This year we have been very excited to have been chosen as one of the first schools in the UK to try out the prototype LEGO braille bricks. Pupils at the Royal Blind School had an exclusive preview of the bricks. You can read all about their experience in the Sunday Post article here.

We've also been busy trying out the LEGO braille bricks in class, you can see some photos in our blog

This week we held a special assembly where Royal Blind pupils have described how braille has changed their lives, also in our blog

Finally this week, our fundraising team ran a pub quiz to a capacity crowd at Six Degrees North. Many supporters tested their wits against each other, with a team from Thorntons Solicitiors taking home the prize. The Royal Blind Pub Quiz has been a huge success again for the fundraising team again that once again sold out long before the event. Be sure to book your team in early for next year to avoid disappointment.
