What does the Scottish Braille Press do?

The first Braille book was published in Britain by the British and Foreign Blind Association, now known as RNIB (The Royal National Institute of Blind People).

A few years later, in 1891, Braille printing began in Edinburgh, produced by the Scottish Braille Press.  The Press was set up by The Royal Blind Asylum and School, now known as Royal Blind.

To celebrate National Braille Week, we are holding an exhibition on Braille and alternative formats at the Royal Blind School on 10 October. The exhibition will feature historic Braille equipment as well as old and new photos of the Scottish Braille Press and Royal Blind.
