Our Joint Paisley Project

New Services for Blind People in the West of Scotland

Sister charities Royal Blind and Scottish War Blinded are constructing two new services on a site on Hawkhead Road, Paisley, due to open in Autumn 2017.

The Royal Blind Jenny's Well Care Home will specialise in nursing care for visually impaired older people.

The Scottish War Blinded Hawkhead Centre will provide activities and support for all veterans with sight loss, irrespective of the cause of their sight loss.

The Scottish War Blinded Hawkhead Centre

Scottish War Blinded provides free support to veterans of the armed forces with visual impairments, no matter what the cause of their sight loss was.

Based on the successful model of the Linburn Centre, West Lothian, the Hawkhead Centre will be a lively hub of social activity and individualised support, opening in October 2017.

Veterans who can benefit from the new centre range from ex-service personnel whose sight was damaged either whilst serving or after service, to those with medical or age related sight loss.

Join Scottish War Blinded today for free and benefit from our outreach service until the Hawkhead Centre opens.

Royal Blind Jenny's Well Care Home

Royal Blind's Braeside House in Edinburgh is currently the only nursing home in Scotland that specialises in caring for visually impaired older people.

Our second care home in Paisley, which will be named Jenny's Well, will be a 54 bed nursing home and will provide the same high level of specialist care. The light and airy home will be designed to meet the needs of those with a visual impairment.

The home will be open to all older people with sight loss.

The home will welcome residents who are funded privately as well as through social care. All residents will receive the same high standard of expert care. The care home will open in Autumn 2017.
