Opening in October 2017

New Services for Blind People in the West of Scotland

Sister charities Royal Blind and Scottish War Blinded are constructing two new services on Hawkhead Road in Paisley, which will open in October 2017.

The Royal Blind Jenny's Well Care Home will specialise in nursing care for visually impaired older people.

The Scottish War Blinded Hawkhead Centre will provide activities and support for veterans who have lost their sight either during or after service.

The Scottish War Blinded Hawkhead Centre

Scottish War Blinded provides free support to veterans of the armed forces with visual impairments, no matter what the cause of their sight loss was.

Based on the successful model of the Linburn Centre, West Lothian, the Hawkhead Centre will be a lively hub of social activity and individualised support.

Veterans who can benefit from Scottish War Blinded's support include from ex-service personnel whose sight was damaged either whilst serving or after service, to those with medical or age related sight loss.

Join Scottish War Blinded today for free to benefit from the Hawkhead Centre and our Scotland-wide outreach programme.

Royal Blind Jenny's Well Care Home

Royal Blind's Braeside House in Edinburgh is currently the only nursing home in Scotland that specialises in caring for visually impaired older people and Jenny's Well will be the second.

Jenny's Well is a 54 bed nursing home with spacious en-suite rooms. The light and airy home is designed to meet the needs of those with a visual impairment.

The home will welcome residents who are funded privately as well as through social care. All residents will receive the same high standard of expert care.

Registrations open on 1 June. Find out about how to register for a place.
