Royal Blind Statement on Penman Case

Press Release | 22/03/2018

We are deeply saddened about the significant crimes carried out by a former pupil, David Penman, in the 1980s, for which he has been sentenced today.  We would like to express our heartfelt sorrow to his victims.

The Royal Blind School has rigorous policies and procedures on child protection and its residential service has gradings of ‘very good’ from the Care Inspectorate. Recent reports about the school may be found on the websites of the Care Inspectorate and Education Scotland.

The protection of all our pupils is of prime importance to us.
