Royal Blind statement on Penman court case

Press Release | 24/06/2017

We are deeply sorry to learn from the recent court case of significant crimes carried out by one of our former pupils, David Penman, against other pupils at the Royal Blind School during the 1980s. We are shocked and saddened about these incidents and would like to express our heartfelt sorrow to his victims for all they went through.

The Royal Blind School of the present day has rigorous policies and procedures on child protection and its residential service has gradings of 'very good' from the Care Inspectorate. Recent reports about the school may be found on the websites of the Care Inspectorate and Education Scotland. It is of prime importance to us that nothing like the recently revealed incidents could happen to any pupil in future.
