“At ESPC we believe in supporting local charities, and Royal Blind provides vital services for partially-sighted children at the Royal Blind School in Edinburgh, as well as providing care and employment for blind and partially sighted people throughout Scotland.

“The Royal Blind School has a special relevance to ESPC as we also sponsor its ambassador, Paralympian Libby Clegg, who is a former pupil.”

ESPC held a series of fundraising events during the past 12 months including a Winter Ball which raised £2,550 for Royal Blind, and a pub quiz which raised £2,400.

And in February the company held one of its most memorable fundraisers ever, inviting members of the public to try and break the record for eating the most Smarties using chopsticks, while blindfolded, as part of Royal Blind Week.

Mr Hilton added: “Well done to everyone who helped to raise almost £6,000 through our charity quiz, our winter ball, the chopstick Smartie challenge and many other fundraising activities throughout the year.”

Royal Blind runs six services for children and adults with sight loss including the Royal Blind School in Morningside.

Davina Shiell, Marketing and Fundraising Manager said: “We would like to whole-heartedly thank ESPC for their support during Royal Blind’s time as their charity of the year. We were delighted to be selected by a company so well-known and respected locally.

“ESPC organised some truly memorable and enjoyable events which helped raise nearly £6,000 for Royal Blind. All the money raised for Royal Blind supports our services which make a life-changing difference to the lives of visually impaired children and adults.”
