First Prize for Royal Blind School Pupil in Card Competition

Today (Friday 8th December) Lothians MSP Miles Briggs will visit the Royal Blind School in Edinburgh to congratulate Namarra, a pupil at the school, on winning his Christmas Card Competition.

All secondary schools in the Lothian region were invited to take part in Miles Briggs’  ‘Design a Christmas Card” Competition, and Namarra’s design was chosen from several hundred entries. Namarra wins a prize and her design will also be used on Miles’ official MSP Christmas card. There are also prizes for runners up and their designs will feature on the back of the Christmas card. 

Miles Briggs will present Namarra with her award at the Royal Blind School at 11:00 on Friday. He will be joined by Mark O’Donnell, Chief Executive of Royal Blind and Elaine Brackenridge, Head Teacher of the Royal Blind School.

Congratulating Namarra on her winning design Miles Briggs MSP said:

“This years ‘Design a Christmas Card’ competition was very competitive, with lots of great entries from across Lothian. We are lucky to have so many talented young artists.

“I have chosen Namarra’s design as the winner of the competition for its inventiveness and creativeness. I really enjoyed the design and I hope that people in Lothian enjoy it as much I did.”

Elaine Brackenridge, Head Teacher of the Royal Blind School said:

“The Christmas Card competition provides the opportunity for pupils to showcase their talents and I am delighted that Namarra’s Christmas Card design has been chosen as the overall winner. 

“As a school we are very proud of Namarra and pleased that her creativity will give pleasure to people living in the Lothian Region.  I know that she is very pleased to be chosen as the winner and this positive outcome will certainly build up her confidence and encourage her to keep working hard”.
