Job Summary

Love driving, and qualified to drive a minibus? Love spending time with young people?

How about a volunteering opportunity that involves both?! We need a safe and responsible road-user with a fun and friendly personality to help us get our young people out and about.

What does Royal Blind do?

Royal Blind is Scotland's largest vision impairment organisation. We create life changing opportunities for vision impaired children and adults from across Scotland and the rest of the UK. 

What team will you be supporting and what do they do?

Our adult services provide 24-hour care and support for young adults who have vision impairment and additional needs including cognitive and communication impairments. We have two residential services in Edinburgh, Forward Vision and Allermuir.

Tasks and Responsibilities 

  1. Driver to transport staff and residents to activities out with service.

Volunteers should meet the following criteria:

Essential 

  1. Minimum Age 18+

  2. Clean Driving licence with D1 provision 

  3. To be inducted by a member of staff on how to operate the organisations’ vehicles and to complete Minibus Driver Awareness (MIDAS) training 

  4. A commitment to demonstrating Royal Blind values of being approachable, forward thinking, professional, positive, empowering and sector leading.

Support for volunteers

  • Structured induction and training 

  • Ongoing support and supervision from Volunteer Development Manager 

  • Ongoing support and supervision from your volunteer supervisor 

  • Access to further training 

  • Travel expenses
