Royal Blind School - Coronavirus Response

Our priority is the safety of our service users, members and staff, as well as family members and the wider public. You can find the latest updates about our response to coronavirus in relation to the Royal Blind School on this page.

The people we care for are amongst those most vulnerable at this time. We are working tirelessly to care for their health and well-being throughout this crisis.

Our staff have come up with amazing ways to keep the people we support safe and happy. See the latest photos, videos and stories from the services on our blog and please consider donating to our urgent appeal.

Update - 26 June 2020

Following the recent Scottish Government announcement about the resumption of visits in July, we are currently working through the guidance provided and will have an update next week.

Update - 7 April 2020

Our teaching staff are offering support and help to parents who are homeschooling and caring for their children.

Update – 24 March 2020

We have now had the opportunity to contact all parents of day pupils about whether they would wish and be able to continue coming to school. The predicted number of pupils that were potentially able to attend was only three and therefore we have taken the decision that it is not viable to run the school for the time being. We have been in touch by phone to let all the day pupils' parents know directly.

Update – 20 March 2020

Further to the Scottish Government announcements yesterday and today [March 20] around education, and particularly with regards to complex additional support needs, we will be reviewing closely what provision at the school might be feasible in line with national guidance and expectations, working with local authorities and government accordingly.
