Rebecca Barr, Director of Scottish War Blinded

Rebecca Barr was appointed in May 2016 to a newly created senior management position at Scottish  War Blinded to take the charity into its next stage of development.

Rebecca joins the charity at a time of exciting expansion which will see us support more visually impaired veterans across Scotland, no matter the cause or timing of their sight loss.

As Director of Scottish War Blinded, Rebecca is responsible for leading the charity’s expansion of services. A new centre for visually impaired veterans opened in Paisley in 2017, and the charity is taking forward fresh initiatives for its members across Scotland.

Scottish War Blinded has modernised and increased its services over the last few years, initially with the construction of the award winning Linburn Centre in West Lothian, and then with the development of its outreach service covering the whole of Scotland.

A qualified social worker for over 30 years, Rebecca Barr was previously Lead Officer for Adult Protection in both Argyll and Bute Council and held a similar role at West Dunbartonshire Council. She has extensive experience in the field of disabilities and long term conditions. Her third sector experience includes a role as regional manager at Crossroads Caring Scotland and RNIB.
