Scottish War Blinded Exhibit at 2014 Sight Village Roadshow Events

 

Scottish War Blinded exhibited at the 2014 Sight Village roadshow events at Glasgow and Edinburgh last week.

Sight Village, organised by Queen Alexandra College, brings together professionals, businesses, charities and other organisations who support visually impaired people. Visitors can visit a wide range of engaging presentation stands, access information, try out audio-visual equipment and attend seminars.

Scottish War Blinded member Dr Raymond Donnelly visited Vietnam recently as part of a business trip working for Herriot Watt University. He has provided us with a report of his experience.

“Recently I had the opportunity to visit Vietnam on business. While there I took the chance to visit three cities Hanoi, Hue, the ancient capital, and Ho Chi Min City, also called Saigon. The people throughout the country are charming and couldn’t do enough for us. The three cities are very different but the people are the same wherever you go.

Scottish War Blinded Collaborate with Disability History Scotland for WWI Commemorative Project

 

Scottish War Blinded are currently working with Disability History Scotland’s ‘All Together Now’ project as part of their WWI commemorative programme.

The project, which received Scottish Heritage Lottery funding, reflects upon World War I as the catalyst for attitudinal change towards disability as a result of the huge influx of soldiers returning to the UK requiring long-term care following medical discharge.

Scottish War Blinded to Commemorate World War I Armistice with Exhibition at Central Library

Scottish War Blinded will commemorate the Armistice by hosting a World War I exhibition from Monday 10 to Saturday 15 November 2014 at Central Library, Edinburgh.

The exhibition, in partnership with the Edinburgh University led ‘Scotland’s War’ project, will focus on the development of chemical warfare, attitudinal changes towards disability and the rehabilitation and training provided to blinded soldiers by Scottish War Blinded following its foundation in 1915.
